Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B to create a unique mixture. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical journey began in the church, where she sang and performed piano. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music on the Atlanta's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You A house 12 released exclusively in Japan It has been remixed since by many producers and remains a staple in her live show. The Fighting Temptations was the other soundtrack she sang on. She took on the role of primary piano player for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choral leader for the stage production. Sunshine gained national recognition for 4 performances a day during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to sing as part of President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
